A report on employee wellness industry trends in 2022 was just released by Wellable.
The study determined which workplace health initiatives were most and least valued by both employers and employees.

According to the study, mental healthy and telemedicine are among the hottest and most well-liked employee wellness options.

The 2022 Employee Wellness Industry Trends Report from Wellable was just releasing. The yearly report looks at investment trends, decision influencers, and vendor evaluation to quantify and understand corporate wellness measures for the coming year.

The war for talent, according to the research, is one of the primary forces motivating corporate wellness program Malaysia. Employers are vying to give better benefits while keeping costs low due to the tighter labour market, which allows workers to be more selective.

Having corporate wellness program alone, however, is insufficient; businesses must also make sure that they are offering solutions that support employees’ success and enjoyment at work while also favourably influencing their level of overall life satisfaction.

Companies are using greater discernment when determining the worth of their goods because workplace health programmes are more prevalent than ever.

Wellable’s findings on wellness programmes and practises include which have witnessed declining investment and which are most likely to succeed.

Overall, “employers are expanding their investment in health and well-being programmes,” according to the research. Wellable predicts that investments in wellness programmes will continue as the notion of wellness gains popularity and employees demand more of it. This is particularly true for initiatives that are well-like or profitable.

The most and least valued workplace wellness initiatives in 2020

Mental health, mindfulness and meditation, and stress management are expected to receive more money this year. The top three programmes “overwhelmingly show companies’ interest and attention to mental wellbeing,” since stress and mindfulness affect mental health.

Businesses will emphasise offering employees with customised solutions. Some workers may need help with student loan debt relief or retirement planning.

According to the survey, one of the “hottest” aspects of employee well-being may be mental healthy. More than 90% of businesses plan to spend more money on enhancing their workers’ mental health. Only 6% of investors only intend to invest less next year.

Programs like health risk analyses, biometric testing, health fairs, exercise classes, and health coaching are on the other end of the investment range. When it comes to the proportion of employees who anticipate investing less, “these initiatives scored the highest.”

Wellable says the fall in investment and popularity is because “they are services, making them harder to scale, more expensive per engaged person, and sometimes unavailable to remote employees.”

As a result of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn EEOC wellness standards, organisations may be spending less on biometric screening and health risk assessments.

The transition to more personalised workplace wellness solutions is also marking by a decrease in spending for health fairs and exercise programmes. Classes and fairs “target bigger audiences by design,” which can lower engagement and drive up costs.

Wellable says employers who invest less in these activities will resort to newsletters and gym reimbursements. Lack of infrastructure and resources makes it difficult for employers to invest in on-site exercise programmes, the poll found.

New Wellness Offerings for 2022

Also included in the list of the most highly regarded programmes were fresh wellness services.

According to Wellable, businesses are selecting services that offer flexible work schedules, remote work choices, and paid time off to employees, especially those who are caring for others. By more than double or triple the percentage points, these products outperformed comparable wellness initiatives.

Counseling services and caregiver-provider referral services are two more new wellness services that are popularising after caregiver assistance. Both reduce the strain associating with care coordination, and counselling services in particular represent the significantly expanding attention being paid to employee mental health.

Additional Information

Programs for managing diseases will continue to exist. 88% of businesses plan to invest the same or more in illness management, up 11% from last year.

Employees continue to value the availability of free healthy food. According to the study, the proportion of businesses expecting to invest less has increased.

It has been demonstrate that health coaches increase employee participation in wellness initiatives.

The significance of health literacy may not be immediately understood by businesses, despite its increasing importance. 59% of employers “plan to invest the same or more on health education and literacy,” Wellable reports.

As always, mental health comes first. “Of all wellness advantages, the rise in popularity of mental health programmes was the most surprising.”

Mindfulness and meditation programmes, especially those that reduce stress, have gained popularity as mental health has received more attention.

76% of businesses will invest more in stress management, up from 61% the year before.
