Every year, the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts different exams for hiring candidates for Clerical, Probationary Officer (PO), and Specialist Officer (SO) positions across various public sector banks in the country. Bagging these positions requires writing these exams, which are a vital part of the selection process. However, you will also need to fulfill some minimum requirements to apply.

So, let’s learn more about these exams and their eligibility requirements.

IBPS PO 2022

IBPS PO is the highest tier of the three exams and those who get through bag respectable positions as banking officers. Applying for the IBPS PO exam requires meeting the eligibility criteria, including age limit, citizenship, and educational qualification.

  1. Those applying for the IBPS PO exam must be no more than 30 years of age and no less than 20 years. However, the age can be higher for specific groups, such as SC/ST, OBC, Persons with Disabilities, and Ex-Servicemen.
  2. Only graduates with at least 60% aggregate score can apply for this exam.

The selection process consists of stages with different requirements, including the Prelims exam, Main exam, and interview. The preliminary and main exams will each have a cut-off score that a candidate must secure to move to the following stages.

The same goes for the interview, where a candidate must secure at least 40%. However, this phase comprises only 20% of the entire selection process, and getting the job depends primarily on performance.

Also, the final score depends more on the Main exam and interview than on the Prelims, which means that the Main exam should be your primary focus.

However, qualifying in the Main exam does not mean that you will get the job. You must also do well in the interview, and the final selection depends on various factors, such as the vacancies, merits and preferences, reservations, and other government guidelines.

IBPS SO 2022

The IBPS also conducts exams for staffing Specialist Officers (SO). Specialist Officers may work in departments such as Agriculture, Marketing, Human Resources, IT, and Law.

The IBPS SO Prelims 2022 will take place on December 24 and 31 as per the official notification and will consist of three phases, including online preliminary and main exams and interviews.

Those applying for this exam must be graduates of at least 20 years of age and not more than 28 years. However, the specialization depends on the requirements of the position. So, for instance, you must be an Engineering graduate, particularly in Computer Science, to apply for IT Officer.

Similarly, you will need a degree in Law to apply for the position of a Law Officer and an MBA if you want to work in Marketing or HR.

The preliminary exam comprises English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning. All the areas consist of 50 questions, but Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude carry 50 marks, whereas English carries 25 marks.

The exam is for two hours and carries 125 marks; you get up to 40 minutes to attempt each section.

General candidates must secure at least 40% to move to the following stages in the selection process. However, the cut-off scores vary, depending on the position, and other factors, such as vacancies, difficulty level, and class.

There is no easy way out, and you can only crack the IBPS SO exam. So, create a study plan, covering a topic every day.

IBPS Clerk 2022

The IBPS exams for various clerical positions will take place on August 28 and September 3 and 4. Applicants must be no more than 20 years of age and no less than 28 years as of the application start date. Moreover, they must be graduates and know how to work with Computers. Besides this, they must also learn the official languages of the respective states where they plan to write the exams.

The selection process has only two stages, including the preliminary and main exams. So, there is no interview, and the merit list depends on the main exam.

The preliminary exam comprises English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning. English consists of 30 questions, where each question carries one mark. Numerical Ability and Reasoning each consist of 35 one-mark questions.

So, the entire exam consists of 100 questions, and each question carries one mark.

You get only one hour to attempt the IBPS clerk prelims exam, which means there are only 20 minutes allotted for each assessment area.

Candidates must score at least 40% aggregate marks to meet the minimum qualification requirements. However, the cut-offs for 2022 lie between 60% and over 80%.

These stats suggest that you must secure at least 60% to stand a chance to bag the job.
