Yasin Valley

You will reach the Gupis Valley after crossing the Ghizer Chitral road’s beautiful headquarter in Gilgit Baltistan. After driving by a river for 45 mins, the road ends at a point where it divides into two. You will continue to the Chitral valley by following the straight. When you cross the suspension bridge, the Yasin Valley will be on your right. The Yaseen valley’s entry point is at the suspension bridge.

It takes only 30 minutes to get from the entry point to central Yasin. The bridge that connects Central Yaseen to central Yasin is where taus begin. In front of the village Gojalti, you will find the stunning beauty of Gojalti. Taus is Yaseen Valley’s commercial center. Here you will find shops, hospitals and schools as well as banks, colleges, banks, and other services. Next, there is Sutanabad (thoi) and Silgan-thoi. Finally, Sandi can be found in front of Sultanabd.

Yasin Valley best time to visit

Yasin Valley is best visited between April and October. You will still experience harsh weather and cold temperatures during this period. This valley was lush green with snow-capped mountains when I visited it in May. Despite the cold night temperatures, the daytime temperature was very pleasant. Because you can also enjoy the fruits and the fishing in Yasin Valley during July-August, I recommend it. The disadvantage: There is always a large number of tourists visiting Pakistan during these days.

How to get to Yasin Valley

Yaseen Valley can be described as the origion for the Gilgit Chitral River.

From Gilgit to Yasin

The best option is to use a local Hiece. Book a ticket starting from Gahdi bagh, near the bridge Shajee Ada (river view road). Every hour, vehicles depart between 10 and 5 pm. The ticket is 500 rupees. It takes approximately 2 hours to get on the Hiace van. After that, you can have tea and continue the journey. Yasin Valley (central Yasin) is reached after 2 hours. It takes approximately four and a half hours to get Yasin via local transport. The vehicles leave early at 5 a.m. for Gilgit. You must also ensure that it returns.

Yasin Valley: Where to Stay

There are many guesthouses and hotels in Yasin Taus that you can find accommodation. These guest houses and hotels have limited resources, but they are affordable and offer organic food. The cost of these hotels and guest houses will vary depending on the tourist demand.

Hotels in Yasin: Budget

Yasin View Hotel & Restaurant

It’s located on the main road of taus chowk and has a beautiful building. This hotel was my homestay. The hotel is clean, has a comfortable bed, and an attached bathroom. It costs Rs 1500 without food.

Ali, the owner of the hotel, was very kind and took good care of us. He also provided organic food for our dinners and spoke English well. They don’t have internet. Similar hotels are available nearby for exact same charges.

Fort hotel Yasin

A luxurious and well-furnished hotel located in the heart of Yasin. Double and single bedrooms available with an attached bathroom. The cost of the night is 3000 RS (without food). They charge Rs 500 to 1000 depending on the food. However, the quality of their food is excellent.

Rock n River Hotel

It is located near the Noh ziarat river side with a fishing lake. The hotel is well-furnished and clean, with a friendly staff. The owner does not speak English. It is 2000 RS/night.

Things to Do in Yaseen Ghizer

Yaseen Valley has many areas that are close to nature. Imagine sitting by a Yaseen stream and taking in the fresh air.

Visit Moudori Fort

Moudori Fort, a historic place in Dalsandi, is where you can see the downside of Yasin from a birds-eye view. Ask locals about the Fort’s history and take good photos. It takes only 30 minutes to ride the bike from taus. We rode the bike. You can see Yasin Valley’s greenery from there. From there, you can also see Phander and Qurqolty. It is simply breathtaking.

Walking in the village and on short hikes

You can walk through a village and chat with the people. They may offer you to join them for a drink or eat with them. You can hike up mountains in Taus Sand and Gojalti, where you will find shepherds taking their sheep and goats for grassing.

Day trip to Darkut

Darkut is the final village in this valley. It takes 1.30 hours from taus to get there. It is a large area of greenery. However, most of it is destroyed by flooding. Many large bib stones can be found here. There are also small lakes if you go to the Darkut side. It is known for its rivers and lakes, and has one plan of greenery. You will find beautiful spots when you travel from Taus to Darkut. It is a good idea to rent a motorbike, as the road between Umalsat and Darkut is in poor condition.

Sangum Point Barandass

This was one of the most beautiful places in all of Yasin. This is my favourite. This is where the Thoi and Darkut rivers meet. A small cabin is available for refreshment. The local artist has also installed a pen and book. Enjoy the sounds of the river from this spot. There was no shortage of people there, and we sat there almost four hours. The tea was delicious and only 40 rupees per cup. Biscuits are also available.

Chai at someone’s house

People are extremely welcoming. Their culture is to serve you tea and food in their homes. The boiled eggs and tea are delicious.

Yasin is a place where language, culture, religion, and customs are all possible

Burushaski Khowar-speaking Ismaili Muslims are the majority of the inhabitants. They are followers of His Highness Prince Aga Khan. There are also Sunni Muslims located in the middle of Yasin taus, Sandi. They are peaceful and sober, and they are well-educated. It is not common to see women and girls walking on streets or roads in open places in rural Pakistan. Co-shools are available and the literacy rate for this generation is nearly 100 percent. Every child goes to school. They are capable of navigating a world where the majority of their elders, who are either illiterate or very poorly educated, is a great place to be.

Yasin has both mobile and fixed internet access

Zong and Scom operate in Yasin Valley, but SCO is still the only provider of data service at extremely high rates. Scom’s data services are slow and only work in taus, Thoi and Hunder close to the tower. Mobile sims can be used from Gilgit. There aren’t many shops for mobile phones in Yasin.

Yasin Ghizer local guides

Spend at least ten days exploring Yaseen Valley. You can then go on trekking with local tour guides. The best guide I have met will take you around the entire valley. Shah Raheem graduated from university with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication related to the tourism industry. He is also a social activist. He is the best tourist guide, knowing all the border areas. He has also traveled many different routes, and over the past seven years, he has guided many tourists from both local and abroad. You can reach him via Facebook here. You can refer to Alex, the American girl, and he’ll understand where you got his number.
